The university is named after U.S. President Harry Truman, the only president born in Missouri.

Until 1996, the school was known as Northeast Missouri State University, but the Board of Trustees voted to change the school’s name to better reflect its statewide mission.

Truman State is the only public institution in Missouri that is officially designated to pursue highly selective admissions standards and is also informally referred to as “The Harvard of the Midwest”.

Notable buildings on campus include Pickler Memorial Library, the Kirk Memorial, the Kirk BuildingMagruder HallMcClain HallBaldwin HallViolette HallBarnett HallOphelia ParrishPershing Arena, the Student Union Building and the Recreation Center (“The Rec“).

The oldest building is not Kirk Building, but is instead the purple doored Physical Plant building located between the Health Services building and Magruder Hall.

Public liberal arts: In public relations and communication science, publics are groups of individual people, and the public is the totality of such groupings.

This is a different concept to the sociological concept of the Öffentlichkeit or public sphere.

The concept of a public has also been defined in political science, psychology, marketing, and advertising.

In public relations and communication science, it is one of the more ambiguous concepts in the field.

Although it has definitions in the theory of the field that have been formulated from the early 20th century onwards, it has suffered in more recent years from being blurred, as a result of conflation of the idea of a public with the notions of audience, market segment, community, constituency, and stakeholder.

KIRKSVILLE is a city in and the county seat of Adair County, Missouri, United States.

Located in the Benton Township, its population was 17,505 at the 2010 census.

Kirksville is home to two colleges: Truman State University and A.T. Still University.

The Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) is a consortium of 29 public colleges and universities in 27 states and one Canadian province.

Established in 1987, COPLAC advances the aims of its member institutions and drives awareness of the value of public liberal arts education in a student-centered, residential environment.
